Join us for an exclusive look at the latest DDoS Threat Intelligence Report, including new findings not published anywhere else. In the first half of 2023, NETSCOUT insights of ~7.9 million DDoS attacks came from an unprecedented level of visibility into all stages of DDoS attacks across the internet, with more than 86% of the insights from wired and wireless telecommunications and cloud hosting providers. Explore the Key Findings specific to ISPs: • A wave of DDoS attacks hammered wireless telecommunications, no doubt a result of expanding 5G wireless connectivity and subscribers using 5G as their primary internet connection. • Internet traffic growth and 79% growth in 5G deployments = DDoS attack growth, so visibility is key to protecting the network. • Wired and wireless telecommunications and cloud hosting providers bear the brunt of carpet-bombing attacks as they spread across their networks. • Wireline and wireless broadband access ISP/cloud/VPS/hosting/colocation, were especially hard-hit by DNS Water Torture attacks. Sneak peek at the exclusive findings you will hear only in this webinar: • The DDoS Tax: Yes, it impacts us all! • How Many DDoS Attacks Really? ~7.9 million reported, but learn about the theoretical ceiling using our global sensor network • Battling Against the Machines: Defending Networks in the Age of AI

Capitalize on New Federal Funding for Expanding Broadband Services
By:
Type: Video
The passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act promises to deliver, among other things, $65 billion to help ensure that every American has access to reliable, high-speed internet. For state, county and municipal officials, that will mean a rare opportunity to ensure that broadband is deployed to the unconnected and that the unconnected have access to online services. But it will also mean getting the right help to ensure those investments are reliable and deliver on the promise of community engagement. While the investment opportunity is significant, broadband networks are expensive, and the new funds will only go so far. So, to ensure the broadband buildouts are effective, the funds must be prioritized to unserved areas and not wasted on subsidizing some duplicative network, says Michael Brady, SVP of Government Affairs, Comcast Cable, in a new StateScoop interview. He explains critical steps state and local agencies can take to help with their planning, like consulting with broadband providers to develop a program that’s committed to digital equity. Terry Connell, SVP of Sales and Sales Operations, Comcast Business, also explains the benefits of diversifying broadband providers’ portfolios and the importance of having the right partners to collaborate for increased local expertise and flexibility while removing redundancy. Learn more about how Comcast is helping public sector leaders take advantage of the new wave of broadband infrastructure investment funding.

Building a future-ready rural broadband infrastructure
By:

The need to invest in rural broadband infrastructure and bridge the digital divide isn’t a new ambition in the U.S. but the critical need for ubiquitous, reliable connectivity has been brought into sharp relief throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, federal officials made emergency funding available particularly in support of rural school systems; this is just part of a longer-term effort to fund rural broadband networks, both wired and wireless. Winners of the RDOF auction could receive more than $9 billion in subsidies for rural broadband deployment and the Biden Administration recently unveiled plans to spend $100 billion on rural broadband as part of a sweeping infrastructure package. But funding is just one piece of the puzzle—service providers across rural America are now tasked with making highest and best use of these precious dollars in a sweeping, multi-faceted network expansion and modernization program. Learn from industry experts what some of the key considerations should be during this process, including maintaining legacy IPv4 infrastructure, building for IPv6 migration, the role of 5G, security challenges, and strategies for reducing costs. Speakers: Kelly Hill, Managing Editor, RCR Wireless Terry Young, Director, Service Provider/5G Product Marketing, A10 Networks, Inc. Steven K. Berry, CEO & President, CCA Brighid Riordan, CIO, Nsight

Delivering PON Fiber and DOCSIS on a Converged Broadband Platform
By:
Type: Talk
Broadband service is essential. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the USA recently redefined broadband service as 100Mbps downstream and 20Mbps upstream to ensure that all Americans have access to adequate connectivity. Government subsidies available in the US (BEAD) and around the globe are attracting new fiber overbuilders, as well as enticing existing broadband providers, to upgrade networks to meet the new definitions. Many network operators agree that fiber-to-the-premise is the end goal for their access network evolution. Some operators will maximize the utility of their existing DOCSIS networks for many years to come. While others in highly competitive markets will offer PON fiber services sooner. In the next several years, cable MSOs have robust options for delivering multi-gigabit broadband service using virtualized platforms to deliver both DOCSIS and Fiber concurrently in their networks. This panel will feature discussions with market leaders Comcast, Harmonic, Dell’Oro, and Intel to touch on topics such as the technical feasibility of converging next generation DOCSIS and PON delivery platforms, the operational benefits of convergence, and market trends for broadband access. Moderator & Panelist: - Jeff Heynen, VP, Broadband Access and Home Networking at Dell’Oro Panelists: - De Fu Li, Distinguished Engineer at Comcast - Asaf Matatyaou, SVP, Product, Broadband Business at Harmonic - Thuy Nguyen, Head of Cable Segment at Intel
