IP facilities – lessons from the frontline
By:
Type: Talk
The flexibility and future-proof capabilities of IP mean that, increasingly, broadcast centres and other facilities are being constructed with part or total reliance on IP infrastructures. With the ability to handle uncompressed signals emerging at precisely the same time as UHD and HDR become production ‘must haves’, it is no surprise that broadcasters worldwide are now migrating (albeit at varying speeds) from their former reliance on SDI. But although standardisation efforts have brought much-needed clarity to the design of IP-based broadcast facilities, their requirements can still vary considerably – as can the long-term visions of the broadcasters who use them. That’s why effective collaboration and having a clear set of goals from day one are essential to the development of IP-based centres. In this IBC 365 webinar, we’ll hear from systems integrators, consultants and other participants in recent IP facility projects about issues including: - Determining the primary objectives of a broadcaster in migrating from SDI to IP - Design ‘first principles’ in deciding which IP technologies and platforms are most appropriate for a given project - Benefits that a hybrid or all-IP infrastructure brings for different aspects of broadcast production and distribution - The importance of ensuring that engineering & technical teams are trained to be able to support IP infrastructures effectively - The extent to which OB vehicles are also moving away from SDI, and a sense of how the global transition to IP is progressing

Integrating Infoblox into Network Automation for DDI Management
By:
Type: Talk
There are a wide variety of solutions available today to help network teams move beyond using text files and spreadsheets as the preferred tool to manage IP address allocation for network devices. These solutions range from open source tools to commercially available software with features that provide more than IP address management. One popular commercial solution is Infloblox, which provides IP address management, along with DNS, DHCP, and more. Network teams who are moving forward in their automation journey will eventually realize that they spend a considerable amount of time in Infoblox managing resources, like IP addresses, and accessing that data so they can copy and paste it into other applications or automations. With Itential, network teams can automate this manual process, saving more time, reducing errors, and ensuring the entire end-to-end process is more efficient. By integrating the Itential Automation Platform with the Infoblox REST API, network teams can reference these DDI features directly and transform that data so it can be used to make changes to the network, update trouble tickets, or send notifications to the network team — all inside an automation workflow. In this demo, you will learn to: • Investigate the Infoblox DDI features using APIs. • Automate IP address reservations and queries. • Build a Data Transformation task for managing data from Infoblox. • Create an Itential automation workflow that utilizes this data to make a network change.

Join MIP and Zacco at 2pm BST (3pm CEST) on Thursday, June 15 as they explore some of the reasons why companies are increasingly adopting a hybrid IP portfolio management model, both as a means to improve quality and in response to an uncertain economic outlook. This webinar from MIP and Zacco will explain how organisations can improve the quality, efficiency and reach of their IP portfolio, often reducing management costs and without compromising on the integrity or protection of their IP rights. As the size of an IP portfolio grows, it becomes significantly more time consuming and expensive to maintain. Costs accumulate further when your in-house team are spending their time on administrative tasks, and the maintenance of existing rights, when it could be put to better use focusing on the development and protection of new ideas and innovations. Alternatively, the cost of losing rights through failure to maintain them could be catastrophic, so what options are available to companies looking to grow their IP portfolio without risking their current rights? An increasing number of companies are finding value in adopting a hybrid IP portfolio management model. Such a model can effectively remove the need for in-house resources to perform some of the more time-consuming tasks, such as renewals, validation or invoice management. The types of services available can be designed to suit any budget and any portfolio size. A good IP service provider will improve the quality of your portfolio and can often be a more cost-effective solution than maintaining the same level of expertise in-house. Zacco’s Karin Kärvling Søholt, director of strategic alliances, Betina Hellemann, director of IP services and quality, and Agatha Bergman, relationship manager, will explain how your business could benefit from a new approach to IP management and offer insight into what questions you should be asking at the first stage of any IP service partnering discussions.

IPv6 Enhanced Innovation: the IPv6-Only Future in the 5G, IoT & Cloud Era, 1/2

In the 1980s, IPv4 became the basic protocol of the Internet and promoted the development of IP networks. In the 2000s, the MPLS technology enhanced the comprehensive bearing capability of voice and video services. After 2010, IPv6 deployment was accelerated. As more and more devices, vehicles, sensors, and home appliances go online, enabling IP on everything becomes a vision and industry trend. In this context, all the statistics show that IPv6 is growing constantly and faster than IPv4 in all measures such as number of users, percentage of content, and amount of traffic. For the first time in history, the user–network–content communication chain is ready for IPv6 and this means that the industry has selected IPv6 for the future. On the other hand, the networking field is in constant evolution and all the new use cases and scenarios were not mature or even did not exist when IPv6 was introduced. For this reason, IPv6 started its massive introduction recently and keeps evolving to prepare for the future and meet the new challenges as they arise. Cloud-based everything, Internet of Everything, and industry digitalization posed new requirements on IP networks. The IPv6 enhanced innovation represented by SRv6 emerged. ETSI ISG IPE will investigate the IPv6 enhanced innovation as required by the new and evolving applications in order to develop an IPv6 enhanced network, to drive the transformation of network service, stimulating business model innovation.
