University of Michigan Health-West (UMHW) adopted Nuance's Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX) to combat clinician burnout. DAX, leveraging AI, documents patient visits, easing clinicians' workload. A study of 83 UMHW primary care clinicians showed that DAX's frequent users had a 3-point burnout score reduction, akin to shifting from full-time to part-time. These users also handled 12 additional patient visits monthly and saw a 20 wRVU rise. The revenue from extra visits offset DAX costs, yielding an 80% ROI. The full case study details how UMHW linked DAX to clinician wellbeing and guided clinicians to realize benefits.
