As organizations continue to embrace cloud capabilities, encryption, IoT and third-party vendors, their networks become more complex – impeding visibility and having a significant impact on security.

The following report highlights the results from a recent SANS survey into network visibility and threat detection. Key findings from the study include:

• 64% of organizations suffered from one or more compromises last year
• 59% believe lack of visibility poses a high or very high risk
• 52% had high visibility of traffic in & out of their network (north-south traffic)
• 17% had high visibility of lateral communication within their network (east-west traffic)
