The Gulf Cooperation Council countries have seen life expectancy increase over the last two decades, which has but pressure on systems.

But the countries in the Arabian Gulf have committed to spend vast amounts to put this right and IT plays a key role in this. It is predicted that telemedicine and its associated services, such as remote care, continuous monitoring and support, will be one of the major trends in the GCC in the coming years.

In Dubai there are plans to use technology to go beyond improving health by boosting happiness. And blockchain is a buzzword way beyond Dubai in the Middle East. In fact a group focused on the technology in the region, the Blockchain Middle East Forum, has revealed a plan to advance the adoption of blockchain technology, with opportunities across various sectors in the region.
