Business Information ANZ January 2016
In this issue we find out why it hard to recruit suitable data scientists in Australia and how the change in mindset required, for those scientists to approach analytics experiments, is not happening fast enough.
For example the Institute of Analytics Professionals of Australia (IAPA) Skills and Salary Survey 2014, found that for 39% of respondents the biggest job challenge was convincing their company of the value of analytics. A further 38% said the challenge was getting the company to act on the insights it produced.
Australia based experts say businesses need to move away from a rigid scope of engagement, predefined notions of deliverables and a profit-minded reluctance to continue exploring analytics exercises that do not pay off as expected.
