How Mature Are Companies' Software Quality Management Processes In Today's Market?
There is growing amount of industry data that exists on the maturity of testing practices throughout the software quality life cycle.
This survey provides a view of organisational test maturity based upon the industry standard Test Maturity Model integrated (TMMi) for the period up to the end of 2011.
This year’s results have shown a considerable improvement over the last survey results across the 10 industry sectors, who took part:
-
A significant reduction in the number of companies at Level 1; only 11% of companies are still working in a chaotic manner, representing a major improvement on 2010 where 63% were at TMMi Level 1.
-
We have seen a growth in the average maturity of test process to 89% now achieving Level 2 and heading for Level 3, showing an overall improvement of in excess of 100% -a major improvement on the 2010 results.
-
The companies (MTP, Aricent and MSTB ) have actually achieved Level 3 certification over the last 12 months. We have even seen the first company achieve TMMi Level 4 this year.
There are signs of the beginnings of a momentum to adopt the improvement of test and software quality processes, however there are still challenges to overcome.
