The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA) brought about new delivery and reimbursement models, such as accountable care organizations (ACOs) and value-based purchasing plans, focused on reimbursing for care coordination, improving quality, and improving patient outcomes.

But these accountable care programs require more accurate, timely and complete data. Findings show, however, that current analytic and data warehouse programs use only 20% of data and are retrospective.
